  Family Searches Six Hours, Finds Body In Farm Well (Special To The Times Herald) Brown City, Feb. 18-Simon Bechtel. 63, Maple Valley township farmer and resident of this community 60 years, drowned in eight feet of water in a well on his farm Thursday. Members of the family said he planned to make some repairs on a well in a milk house on the farm, and it is thought he may have fallen in accidentally. Last seen at 7:30 a.m., he was missed two hours later when his son, Dalton, returned from delivering milk. Relatives and friends searched six hours before finally finding the body in a 16-foot well half-filled with water. Mr. Bechtel is survived by his widow, His son, Dalton, at home; two daughters, Hattie, at home. and Mrs. Jane McPhail, Maple Valley township; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Laidlaw, Brown City, and Mrs. William Scott, Brown City. and two brothers, John Bechtel, Yale, and Nelson Bechtel, Roseburg.
