Notes - CONNELL, Margaret Frances - Daughter of George McHattie and Louise Mearns and beloved wife of the late Joseph Connell (1999). Passed away peacefully on May 20, 2009 in her 98th year in the loving arms of her three sons. Margaret graduated from the University of Toronto as a dietician. After her marriage to Joe she dedicated herself to her family. Her years in Kitchener-Waterloo were full with the raising of her three sons and supporting Joe in his work with the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA and the community. Lake of Bays was an integral part of her life she shared with her family until well into her nineties. Love, dignity and an amazing sense of humour and wit were with her until the end. Thanks to the staff of Waterloo's Terrace on the Square and London's Horizon Place (formerly Meadowcroft Place) and McGarrell Place who treated her as one of their own family. Thanks to Drs. Whitby and Ferner for their support and excellent care. She is survived by her three sons, Bruce (Maeve), Doug ( Elizabeth), Ian (Deb); her nine grandchildren, Robbie, Amy, Jordan, Celeste, Ryland, Brendan, Allison, Jeff and Kate; and great-grandson, Tom. A brief family service will be held at the graveside at Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener on Friday, May 22, 2009. Donations may be made to the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA as expressions of sympathy through Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home (519-745-9495).
