      BEAN, Marguerite Betty, (nee Pleon)

Passed away peacefully on October 21, 2019 in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 93, following a brief illness. Daughter of the late Michael Pleon (1964) and Elsie (Frey) Pleon (1990). Also predeceased by her brother, Carl Pleon (1993). Betty leaves behind her husband Jack Bean, daughter Judith Bean and son Dr. Michael Bean.

Betty was a lifelong resident of Kitchener, where she attended Suddaby School and Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate. After completing high school, she attended Stratford Normal School (1944-45), where she studied to become a teacher and met fellow student and future husband Jack, whom she married in 1948. Upon graduation, she was hired by the Kitchener Public School Board, where she taught from 1945 to 1959, first as a primary teacher and later as an art supervisor.

Betty was an accomplished painter of landscapes in the Group-of-Seven style and her beautiful paintings adorned the walls of our home as we were growing up. She was also actively involved in the life of Zion Church, Kitchener, where she taught Sunday School for many years. However, above all, she was a devoted wife and mother, a role she cherished and embraced with enthusiasm, always putting the needs of her children first. Her dedication to this role ensured that we became the people we are today.

We are blessed to have had her in our lives all these years and will cherish her positive, optimistic outlook on life forever. We trust that she will continue to watch over and guide us in the years to come.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Betty with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 10 \endash 10:45 am. The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 am with the Rev. Doug Kellough officiating. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place at Elmira Union Cemetery.

Condolences for the family and donations to the Sjogren Society or St. Mary's Hospital Foundation may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
