  KAISER, Vernon (Tex) Passed away peacefully January 17, 2011 in Penticton at the age of 85 years. Survived by his loving wife Betty, children Janet (Sarasota, Florida), Terry, Bill (Margie) of Penticton and Jim (Barb) of Toronto. Vern was born in Preston, Ontario (now Cambridge). He worked for C.N. Weber for 25 years until his retirement. After moving from Kitchener, Ontario Vern resided in Penticton for ten years. An accomplished hockey and baseball player, in his early years Tex had a professional career highlighted by stints with the Montreal Canadiens and the fabled Galt Terriers baseball club. In 2001 he was inducted into the Waterloo County Hall of Fame after his induction to the Cambridge Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Preston Legion and Kitchener Lions Club. If you wanted to find Vern, you only had to listen for his whistle. His embracing and fun-loving nature will be missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of life will be held at the Bufflehead Lounge in The Penticton Lakeside Resort on Tuesday, February 8th from 5 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Preston Legion - Branch 126.
