  CRANE, THOMAS At Guelph, on Friday, September 23, 1904, aged 21 years. Son of Robert Crane, a farmer on the 7th concession of Puslinch Township. He was found dead in bed at the Commercial Hotel in Guelph at half past one on Friday afternoon. The gas was turned on full and the room was filled with gas. He had been to the fair and appeared at the Commercial on Thursday night at 11. He retired a few minutes later and after the gas had been lighted for him, said good-night and locked the door. The young man was well known around the hotel but he was not a drinking man and was perfectly sober and in good spirits Thursday night when he went to bed. It is believed his death was caused by lack of knowledge of gas jets. Funeral took place from his father's residence, 7th concession, on Tues., Sept. 27th at 3 to Kirkland Cemetery. Friends and acquaintances will please accept this intimation. -Information from the birth certificate: Born July 9, 1883, son of Robert Crane and Maria O'Donnell.
