  GIBSON, ANDREW D. Death of an Early Settler Of Beverly, near Clyde, on Tuesday, January 7, 1896, at the age of 78, after a short illness. Mr. Gibson was a native of Arbroath, Forfarshire, Scotland and came to this country in 1834 with his parents and the rest of the family, which numbered nine in total, five daughters and four sons. His father settled on the farm in Beverly now occupied by William Eddie. Andrew engaged himself as clerk to Andrew Elliott, who kept the leading grocery store in Galt at that time and remained with him for a number of years, when he took up a farm on the 1st concession of Puslinch, where he resided for some time, removing then to the farm near Clyde, on which he died. He leaves a widow, Charlotte Ramsay, three sons and three daughters; Robert in the northwest; John on the homestead; David in Vancouver; Mrs. McAlister of Puslinch; Mrs. John Robson and Mrs. William Robson of Beverly. Of the family who came here in 1834, the only members now living are David of Cedar Creek Road, North Dumfries, who is in his 80th year and Mrs. Dew of Illinois, now in her 84th year. -Information from the death certificate: Death due to la grippe and heart failure. -Information from the death certificate of Charlotte Gibson: Born in Scotland.
