Mennonite Minister
NEW BREMEN - Gordon Schrag 93, former minister at First Mennonite Church, died Aug. 22 at Oak Lea Nursing Home, Harrisonburg, Va.
Mr. Schrag was a retired Mennonite minister. He served at Mennonite stations in Ontario from 1937 to 1946, First Mennonite Church and Mennonite Fellowship, Calico Rock, Ark., and did chaplaincy work in Arkansas and Virginia.
Born Feb. 28, 1906, in Zurich, Ontario, he was the son of Christian and Mary Gingerich Schrag.
He married Laura Nettie Sherk on June 16, 1937.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mary Kauffman, Harrisonburg; three sons, Keith, Ames, Iowa, James, Sarasota, Fla., and Mark, Lansing, Mich.; a sister, Ruby Gilroy, Smith Falls, Ontario; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was Aug. 25 at Park View Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg. Private burial was in Lindale Mennonite Church Cemetery, near Harrisonburg.
Arrangements were with Kyger and Trobaugh Funeral Home, Harrisonburg.
