• Notes

  John Philip Saltzberger, "a native of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, came to Canada in 1802. He was born June 21st, 1780, and died December 29th, 1860. On September 22nd, 1805, he was married to Veronica Gingerich, sister to old David Gingerich and daughter of old Abraham Gingerich. She was born in 1781 and died in 1810. After the decease of his first wife, he was again married to Mary, daughter of John and Nancy (Bechtel) Biehn. She was the first white child born in the township of Waterloo and quite likely the first in the county. She was born April 24th, 1801, and died September 29th, 1889. They were married in September, 1819." Eby, Ezra E. (1895).
