    • Sad Death

But a few weeks have elapsed since we announced that Mr. Kenneth Robertson son of the late Kenneth Robertson, Esq., of Galt - had gone to New York for the purpose of pursuing his studies. Today we are called to chronicle the young man's death, which took place in that city on Saturday last. It was only last week that his mother received a letter from him written in the best of spirits, and making no mention of his feeling unwell; but on Sunday morning a telegraph was received stating that he was dead. His mother - now Mrs. Gardener, of the Fiji Islands - is at present stopping with her mother at the Gardener homestead near Hespeler, and, heartbroken as she was at the terrible news, was immediately driven to Harrisburg, where she caught the New York express en-route to that city. She returned on Tuesday with the remains, the funeral taking place form the G. W. station to Galt cemetery. It was conducted by the Masons, the deceased having been a member of that order, that body in New York having most kindly taken charge of all arrangements for the funeral and accompanied the remains to Galt where they were joined by the brethren here. It is needless to say that the bereaved mother has the heartfelt sympathy of all who know her in her heavy bereavement.

      - Since the above was written, we have learned further particulars. It appears that for a few days previous to his death, young Mr. Robertson had been troubled with a pain and nervous twitching in the neighborhood of one of his eyes. The medical men whom he consulted thought nothing of it, but as he had been studying hard suggested that it would be as well, for him to take a short respite. The young man accordingly left New York for a visit to Washington, and while sitting reading in that city suddenly fell dead from his chair. His death is supposed to have resulted from some inflammatory action on the brain.
