- JOHN G. WILKEN
A resident of the 8th of Wallace for the past 68 years, Mr. John G. Wilken passed away at his home in his 80th year. Death came as a result of a heart attack, after an illness of many years. The late Mr. Wilken farmed for many years, but at the time of his demise was retired. The deceased was identified with the Lutheran Church.
Born in Wellesley Township on November 17th 1861, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilken of Palmerston. On October 13th 1889 at Floradale he married Amelia Lasch, who with six children survive to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father; two sons Edward and Aerton of the 8th of Wallace and four daughters , Mrs. Henry Ament (Adeline), Gowanstown; Mrs. W. Freeland (Luella), Kitchener; Mrs. Norman Ament (Arnetta), near Listowel and Mrs. Frank Robinson (Elvera), Minto; twelve grandchildren also survive. Two brothers and one sister predeceased him.
The funeral was held on Wednesday April 2nd at 2 pm., with interment in the Lutheran Cemetery on the 8th of Wallace. The pallbearers were; Messers. Edward and Aerton Wilken, W. Freeland, Henry and Norman Ament and Frank Robinson. Relatives from Kitchener, Elmira, Linwood and other places attended the funeral.
