  WING, Mrs. Eva D. -- Of 2 Tweed St., Waterloo, died at Veduga Hills Hospital, Glendale, Calif., Jan. 26, 1977.Accompanied by her daughter, she had gone to California early in December, where she was to have spent the winter. She was confined to hospital just three days prior to her death. Born and educated in Waterloo, Eva (Devitt) Wing trained as a women's physical education director at Wilkes-Barrie, Pa., and later served as director at the YWCA in Toledo, Ohio. She was married to the late Dr. Ross H. Wing, dental surgeon of Guelph, where they resided until 1932. She returned to Waterloo after her husbands death. Commencing in 1940, Mrs. Wing operated Eva Wing Gift Shop, a distinctive imported china and gift shop at 10 King St. N., Waterloo for over 30 years, retiring in 1970. In addition, for many summers, she also operated a branch of her gift shop at Port Sandfield, Lake Rousseau, Muskoka. Active in local womens groups, she was a member of First United Church UCW, K-W Hospital Women's Auxiliary, K-W Art Gallery, K-W Arts and Crafts Club, and a former member of the Waterloo chapter of the IODE. She is survived by a son, Donald R. of Waterloo, a daughter, Mary Elinor (Mrs. Robert D. Baldwin) of La Canada, Calif; one sister Berta B. Devitt of Pasadena, Calif.; one niece, Karen (Devitt) Mrs. E.J. Adams, St. Bruno, Que; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment will be made in Mount Hope cemetery, Waterloo, after cremation in California. A memorial service will be held at the Edward R. Good Chapel, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 3: 30 p.m. The Rev. R. H. McColl, minister of First United Church, officiating. Kitchener-Waterloo Record 28 Jan 1977
