      The death occurred on May 5th, 1936, of Menno Baechler, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 6 days after an illness of two weeks and three days at the home of his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Ropp, of near Hensall. He was born October 29th, 1853, in Hay Township. On April 17, 1877, he was united in marriage to Magdalena Kropf, of Wilmot Township. Together they shared the joys and sorrows of life for 59 years. Three years ago he suffered a stroke which resulted in the loss of his speech which he bore very patiently until he peacefully passed away on Tuesday evening. Surviving are his widow, one son, Solomon Baechler, of the Bronson Line, near Zurich, three daughters, Mrs. Henry Eichler, of Pigeon, Mich., Mrs. Chris. Gingerich, of the Bronson Line, Stanley, 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. The funeral took place on Friday afternoon from the home of Samuel Ropp to Amish Mennonite Church and Cemetery on Bronson Line and was largely attended. Rev. Chr. Brunk, of Milverton, Rev. Peter Nafziger, of St. Agatha, and Rev. Jacob R. Bender, of Tavistock, took charge of the services.

      Baechler - Menno, eldest son of the late Christian and Barbara (Oesch) Baechler, passed away on May 5, 1936, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sam Ropp of near Hensall, Oat., in his 83rd year. Fifty-nine years ago he was united in marriage to Magdalena Kropf of Wilmot Township. He united with the Amish Mennonite Church as a young boy and remained faithful till the end. Surviving are his widow, 1 son (Solomon), 3 daughters (Mrs. Henry Eichler, Mrs. Chris Gingerich, Mrs. Sam Ropp), 17 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 8 at Bronson Line Amish Mennonite Church. Interment in cemetery near-by.
