- KENNETH HALLMAN 1918-2007
Ken passed away, peacefully, after a protracted illness, at Columbia Forest Long-Term Care Centre in Waterloo, on Friday, April 20, 2007 in his 89th year.
Ken was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lillian Mary (nee Perschbacher) who passed away October 5, 2005. For their final years, Ken and Lillian lived together at Columbia Forest Long-Term Care Centre.
He was born June 1, 1918 in Port Elgin, a son of the late Mabel (Thamer) and Melanchton D. Hallman. He is also predeceased by his brother, Howard Edwin Hallman and his sister, Evelyn Grace Hallman.
Ken is survived by his sons, James Hallman and wife Jaye of Phoenix, AZ, David Hallman and partner William Conklin of Stratford, ON and Richard Hallman and wife Diane of New York, NY. Fondly remembered by his grand-children, Tara Chapman and husband Joel and Michelle Lehmann and husband Jason and great-grandchildren, Darby and Troy.
Lillian and Ken were long time members and active participants of Emmanuel United Church in Waterloo. From 1946 to. 1961, Ken worked for Shantz Studebacker Motors in Kitchener and then for Forbes GM Motors in Kitchener from 1961 to 1985 when he retired. He loved family camping trips with Lillian and the boys and then post-retirement summers spent with Lillian in their trailer near Haliburton.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Ken with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo, on Friday, May 4 from 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 pm. The memorial service to celebrate Ken's life and faith will follow in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow in the Fireside Reception Room of funeral home.
