Notes |
- An unique character in the pioneer village was one Michael Eisenhour, the first blacksmith. The principal source from which he derived his daily bread was in the manufacture of cow-bells, which he would peddle among the farmers in the country. He was a very necessary individual as the crude implements of that day required frequent repairing, and as the settlers were compelled to let their cattle roam at large through the dense forest the cow-bell was an indispensable article.
Waterloo County Chronicle 27 Jan 1898, p. 1, 2, 3
_____________
Michael is reported to be the son of Leonard and Maria Elizabeth (Heinrich) Isenhour. It reported to be buried in Galena, JoDaviess, Illinois where he passed away visiting his son William. To be proven. His also reported to a bell maker and blacksmith.
