- An obituary in the Marion Record on Oct 29, 1886 describes how Jacob was killed by being gored to death by a bull as he was moving the bull from one field to another.

The father (Jacob Jacobs) was born in Alsace, in 1820, came to Canada in 1839, and to Kansas in 1873. There he remained in farming until his death, November 9, 1886. The mother (Barbara Studer) was born in 1825, in Alsace, came with her parents to Canada, married in 1842 and now lives in Kansas. (Their children:) George, deceased, Valentine, John, deceased, Mary, deceased, Diebold, Peter, Henry, deceased, Mike, Louis.

In 1848 the title of this property went to Jacob Jacob, who had come to Canada from Ingenheim, Alsace with his brothers Michael and Theodore in about 1834. In 1842, Jacob married Barbara Studer, George's daughter. By 1844 they had cleared about 35 of these acres, and in 1854 they built a 1 1/2-storey log house. Jacob and Barbara had 11 children: Caroline, born 1843; Margaret, born 1845; George, born 1846; Valantine, born 1847; Catherine, born 1850; John, born 1853; Michael, born 1854; Henry, born 1858; Theobald, born 1859; Mary, born 1861; and Peter, born 1865.
Property:
In 1834, Jacob's father-in-law, George Studer contracted Lot 20, Concession 1, Ellice Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada. The title of the property went to Jacob in 1842. In 1848 Jacob earned the deed and then sold the property in 1873 to Jacob Kiehne.
