  'I don't understand,' says sister of slain Cambridge wife Police have charged a Cambridge man, 60, with second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife Hamilton Spectator By Brian Caldwell CAMBRIDGE Marilyn Ayres can't fathom what happened or why when a single gunshot echoed inside a suburban Cambridge house this week. She only ever knew its residents to be a loving couple, parents and grandparents who had been together for almost four decades. Now her sister, Linda Sauve, 63, is dead of a gunshot wound to the head and her brother-in-law, Clark Sauve, 60, is in custody facing a second-degree murder charge. "I've been crying for two days," Ayres said Tuesday, still trying to come to grips with both the loss and the alleged crime. "I'm in pain. My heart's broken. "I never saw them fight - ever. I only saw good. They were in love, really in love. I don't understand." The body of Linda Sauve was found in the couple's Rouse Avenue house when police were called to investigate an assault about 2: 45 a.m. on Monday. Clark Sauve was arrested after being assessed at the hospital and made his first court appearance late Monday in a wheelchair and wearing an oxygen tube. Four years older than her sister in a family of five siblings from Kirkland Lake, Ayres said her brother-in-law's health problems, including poor vision, stem from a head injury from a bad fall in his garage several years ago. Linda Sauve, she said, had since had to care for her husband in addition to working in the office of a Cambridge family doctor. "He went funny after that," said Ayres, who also lives in Cambridge.
