Notes |
- Mabel only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Aikens of Hyman St. in London. She had been ill with Spanish influenza in October and had not fully regained her strength, when pneumonia set in, resulting in her death on Sunday morning, [February 16, 1919]. She was born in Puslinch 26 years ago, residing for a time in Hespeler and then in Galt, subsequently removing to London. The parents and remaining brother, William, as well as the relatives in this vicinity will have the sincere sympathy of all in this second bereavement in so short a time, their eldest son, Wilson, having been killed in action in France two years ago. The funeral, held from St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Guelph (or from the Presbyterian Church in Hespeler - differing reports) on Wednesday afternoon, was largely attended.
