  • Notes
    • Kropf - Anna, daughter to Bro. and Sister Levi Hostetler, was born March 24, 1866, in Elkhart Co., Ind.; died on March 5, 1938, at the home of her youngest daughter, Mae Smucker, near Harrisburg, Oreg.; aged 71 y. 11 m. 9 d. She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth, uniting with the Amish Mennonite Church. She remained faithful until death. At the age of 18 she moved with her parents to Cass Co., Mo., at which place she was married, Dec. 29, 1885, to Daniel J. Kropf, with whom she shared the joys and sorrows of life for 41 years. She is survived by 6 sons and 3 daughters (Frank, Levi, John, Alvin, Orie, Joe, Mrs. John Yoder, Mrs. Orval Smucker, Mrs. Herman Smucker), also 41 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers and 5 sisters, besides many other relatives and friends. Her husband and 3 children preceded her to the glory world. She was one of the pioneer members of the Mennonite Church on the Pacific Coast, coming to Hubbard, Oreg., with her husband and 2 oldest children in 1889. In 1911 she with her family moved to Harrisburg, Oreg., at which time she resided at the time of her death. She was always interested in serving her Master, and in the welfare of her family and of the Church. When she could no more labor and toil for her Master and those she was interested in, her desire was to go home and be with her Lord. Funeral services were held at the home by Joseph Schrock and at the Mennonite church conducted by N.A. Lind, assisted by E.M. Yost. Burial in the Alford Cemetery.
