  Reta Marie Schaub Reta passed away peacefully at Heritage House, St. Jacobs, on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the age of 94. Her children Janet Kuss (Jerry) of Innerkip and Kathy Caskenette (Gary) of Port Dover will miss her cheerful smile and positive outlook on life. Her grandchildren, Timothy Kuss (Michelle) of Burlington, Jeremy Kuss (Michelle Casolino) of Port Elgin and Tammy Caskenette (Kevin Sundberg) of Kitchener will miss her heartfelt chats and advice on life. Reta was born on September 8, 1915, in Elmira. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Lorne, who passed away in May 1995, her son, David, who passed away in 1948 and her grandson, Jamie Kuss, who passed away in August 2001. Reta was the last surviving member of her family having been predeceased by her three brothers, Eldon Hoffer, Hilbert Hoffer, Russell Hoffer, and one sister, Grace Sumner. Her parents, Charles and Edna Hoffer, ran Hoffer's Bakery on Church Street in Elmira for many years. Reta loved to knit, bake, sing and socialize with her many friends and family. She was happiest when she was kept busy and able to contribute. She thoroughly enjoyed the summer months at the family cottage on Georgian Bay. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Dreisinger Funeral Home , Elmira, from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. A service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Mill Street, Elmira, at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010, with Rev. Richard Frey officiating followed by interment in Elmira Union Cemetery. Donations in Reta's memory can be made to any charity of your choice. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Heritage House in St. Jacobs. Reta received exceptional care from this compassionate group of people. Waterloo Region Record 29 Jan 2010
