Notes |
- BROECKEL, MARY T. (Nee Fitzpatrick)
After some five weeks of suffering during which she was confined to bed, on Saturday morning, May 6th 1922, at her residence in Puslinch Township (R. R. #6, Guelph), aged 76 years. Relict of Fred Broeckel. She was a very highly respected resident of Puslinch for many years and hosts of friends can testify to her unbounded hospitality. She was ever cheerful and a most entertaining conversationalist. She was one of the oldest pioneer residents of Puslinch, first coming to Guelph from Dublin, Ireland in 1860, where she remained until her marriage to Frederick Broeckel about fifty-eight years ago. After their marriage, they lived in Waterloo County for a short time, removing to Puslinch where she has resided for the past fifty years. Her husband predeceased her about nineteen years ago. She bore her sickness with much patience. Survived by three sons and one daughter: Joseph of Puslinch; Henry of Star City, SK; Phillip of 30 Perth St. , Guelph; and Mrs. Felix McGenn of Moosejaw, SK. The funeral, on Monday, May 8th, leaving the house at 8: 45 to the Church of Our Lady for requiem high mass at 10 was celebrated by Rev. Father Doyle and was largely attended. Thence to the Roman Catholic Cemetery, where Rev. Father Quirk officiated. Pallbearers: James Cantwell, Michael Spruhan, M. J. Lynch, Joseph Keating, Harry Hawkins and John Doyle.
- Information from the death certificate: Born in Ireland on November 12, 1846, daughter of Patrick Fitzpatrick. Of lot 12, concession 4, Puslinch. Informant - Joseph Broeckel of R. R. #6, Guelph, her son.
