  David P. Martin, "the third son of Peter G. Martin, was born March 15th, 1850. He was married, March 28th, 1875, to Rebecca Gingerich and resides on a farm near St. Jacobs. They have a family of five children". Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. ________________________ Death's call came quite suddenly to Mr. David P. Martin on Wednesday morning at his home on Church Street. He was sitting on the verandah alone when Mrs. Martin hearing a noise went out to see what was the matter. He just gave a groan and fell over and passed away without regaining consciousness. David P. Martin was born near St. Jacobs in 1850. In 1875 he was married to Rebecca Gingrich who now mourns the loss of a kind husband. Five children also survive, namely Bennevel, married and living near Elmira, William, unmarried, Peter, in Peel, Mary Ann, (Mrs. Solomon Lichty, Elmira) and David. Several brothers also survive. The family came to Elmira from Lexington six years ago. About 5 years ago the deceased was seriously ill with dropsy of the heart, but recovered sufficiently to be able to work most of the time until seven weeks ago when the old trouble forced him to quit work. Last week he felt able to put in a few days' work at the factory. But this week he did not feel so well, and the end came sooner than expected. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning, 9 o'clock, to the Mennonite cemetery for burial and service. Elmira Signet May 29 1913 pg 2
