- Louis Gies Louis Gies, 91, of RR 3, Waterloo, died Saturday in St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in Floradale, son of the late Nicholaus Gies and Anna Eisenbach, and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, St. Agatha. After retiring as a steamfitter in 1920, he farmed in the Rummelhardt area. Surviving are his wife, the former Marie Schmeller, two sons, Herbert, Hamilton, and Kenneth, Kitchener; two daughters, Mrs. Ezra (Madeline) Brown,. Waterloo, and Mrs. Howard (Clara) Huehn, St. Catharines, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His first wife, the former Catherine Erb, predeceased him in 1946, and a son, Gordon, in 1962. Mr. Gies was the last. surviving member of a family of 12. The body is at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, where. service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday at 2 p.m. by Rev. Ernest Felker of Philipsburg. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran cemetery, St. Agatha.
