  Passing of J. Melvin Hunt - James Melvin Hunt, Northumberland street, a long-time resident of Ayr, died in Galt General Hospital at 6 p.m. Thursday following a brief illness. Mr. Hunt, who was a miller by trade, operated the mill known as Hunt's Elevator for many years. He sold the mill six years ago and since then had worked for P. W. Gardiner and Son in Galt. He was a member of Knox United Church. Mr. Hunt, who was in his 75th year, was born on a farm near Washington and moved to Ayr as a boy. He was a son of the late John Wesley Hunt and Mary Wilson. He was married in Sarnia in 1924 to Mary Helen Hicks (Nellie), who survives, along with one sister, Mrs. George Landreth, Ayr. The Funeral The funeral took place from the W. O. Ball Funeral parlor on Monday afternoon to the Ayr Cemetery. A large attendance of friends and neighbors was present to pay their last respects. Rev. W. D. Goodger was in charge of the services. The pallbearers were: Arthur W. Hawes, Norman Morton, George Campbell, Harry Gerbig, James Swan and Henry Wolfe. Among those present were friends and relatives from the following points: Sarnia, St. George, Bothwell, Port Elgin, Brantford, Drumbo, Dresden, Thamesville, Chatham and Toronto.
