Funeral of Miss Inglis
Was Daughter of Rev. Walter Inglis, Former Stanley Street Church Minister
The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Saturday afternoon of the late Janet Isabella Inglis of Toronto, whose death occurred on Friday, in her 87th year.
Miss Inglis was a daughter of the late Rev. Walter Inglis, who was pastor of Stanley Street Presbyterian Church, Ayr, from Dec. 8, 1869, until his death on Saturday, Oct. 18, 1884. He was buried in Ayr Cemetery.
Miss Inglis was born in South. Africa, where her father was stationed as a Presbyterian missionary. Her grandfather on her mother's side, Rev. John Dixon, was well known for his missionary service in Southern Russia.
Miss Inglis was for some years active as a member of the Women's Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. She was also a member of the Atlin Nurses' Committee, associated with the Presbyterian Church, which was responsible for sending nurses to the Klondyke during the gold rush. Miss Inglis was a member of Rosedale Presbyterian Church and had lived in Toronto for the past fifty years.
