Notes |
- Demise of Mrs. Caven - The death took place in Toronto on Thursday, May 22, of Margaret Goldie, widow of the late Principal Caven of Knox College, in her 85th year. The deceased had been ailing for some time, being confined to her bed for the last six weeks. She was born in Ayr, Scotland, but came to Canada when quite a young girl. She was a sister of the late David Goldie of Ayr, Ont., and was a frequent visitor here, having, with her daughters, spent the entire summer in this village only a few years ago. Although a very active church worker, she was of a quiet and unassuming disposition, devoting most of her time to her family. She was the mother of ten children, six of whom - three sons and three daughters - are still living. They are Dr. James, Dr. W.F. and Dr. John Caven of Toronto, while her daughters are Mrs. W.A. Wilson, Mary and Jean. Mrs. Wilson is the wife of a Presbyterian missionary who, for many years, has been laboring in India. The funeral, which was private, took place on Monday from her late residence, 53 Farnham Ave., to Mount pleasant Cemetery, and was attended by several of the friends in Ayr.
