  Samuel L. Martin, "was born February 21st, 1859. After attaining the age of eighteen years he passed the teachers' examination and followed teaching with marked success until a short time before his death. He was married to Emeline Bechtel and resided in Preston where he died January 29th, 1892, leaving no issue." Eby, Ezra E. (1895).
