Notes |
- Passing of Mrs. Margaret Carter
The community was shocked to learn of the passing on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock of Margaret Reid, widow of Dr. J. C. Carter, V.S., aged 74 years. Mrs. Carter sustained a stroke on Saturday, from which she never regained consciousness.
She was born in Ayr, being a daughter of John S. Reid and Isabella Matheson, who were members of early pioneer families of the vicinity. Mrs. Carter was one of a family of ten children and was born in the home on Piper street in which she passed away.
Of a kindly disposition, she was known and highly esteemed by numerous friends who will regret to learn of her sudden passing.
Mrs. Carter was a member of Knox United Church.
She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. E. L. Beavers and Mrs. S. C. Billiu, Detroit and Mrs. John N. Kanmacher, Ayr. Also surviving are three grandchildren, a brother, James E. Reid, Rock Island, Ill., and a sister, Miss Violet L. Reid, Ayr.
She was predeceased by her husband in 1918.
The funeral will take place from the residence of her son-in-law, John N. Kanmacher, Piper street, on Thursday, April 20, at 2: 00 p.m. to the Ayr Cemetery.
