  • Notes
    • The cold hand of death has claimed another of our pioneers, in the person of Henry Dahmer, who passed away peacefully last Wednesday morning; after a four weeks illness. The departed was a native of Germany, where he was born in 1818. He came to Canada in 1846, settling here in North Easthope. Mr. Dahmer was a member of the German Evangelical church and an estimable man, who has left a good name and a large number of descendants behind him. He was married twice and leaves behind a widow and six children, two sons and four daughters, to mourn the loss. One daughter is gone before. The funeral took place last Friday. The large number of sorrowing friends and relatives who followed him to Lingelbach cemetery, showed the love and high esteem in which he was held by all who knew him. Rev. J. A. Schmitt of New Hamburg, officiated.
