  Owen Reist, "was born February 4th, 1866. He is married to Ellen, daughter of Samuel Bear. They reside at home with his father. Their family consists of one son named Levi Stanley." Eby, Ezra E. A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. _____________________ OWEN REIST, V.S., of Kossuth. was born in Woolwich in 1866. After passing through the public school of Kossuth he took his second-class teacher's certificate at the Galt Collegiate in 1886, afterward attending the Ontario Veterinary College, where he received the degree of V. S. in 1888, and has successfully practised his profession ever since. In 1892 he assumed his father's farm, later acquiring more farm property, in all nearly 300 acres. Mr. Reist held the position of Sanitary Inspector for Waterloo Township from 1891 to 1900, when he resigned to accept a seat in the township council, being elected reeve in 1906. He was appointed a justice of the peace in 1902 and reappointed in 1905. He has held the office of school trustee and is recording steward for the Zion circuit of the Methodist Church.
