  CONESTOGO Death of Mrs. Gies It became our sad duty to chronicle the death of one of our esteemed citizens, Mrs. Val. Gies, who passed away in the K.-W. Hospital on Sunday afternoon after a somewhat critical operation on Saturday. A report Sunday forenoon was that the patient was getting along as good as could be expected under the circumstances, which gave friends hopes of her early recovery, which was goon shattered by the report of her death during the early afternoon. Deceased whose maiden name was Margaret Holle, was born in this village on March 27th, 1872, March 27th, 1894, she was married to Valentine Gies with whom and her young son he has lived here almost continuously since. Through her cheerful disposition she had occasion to make many friends and endear herself to those with whome she associated. The deceased attained the age of 48 years, 7 months and 25 days, and leaves her bereaved husband,one son Herbert, of this village. two brothers, Henry of this place and Louis of Waterloo, and also one sister, Lizzie (Mrs. Chas. Ludwig) of Kitchener, to mourn the death of a loving wife, mother and sister. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon from her late home to the Lutheran church and cemetery for service and burial.
