  SCHWARTZENTRUBER, Pastor Elmer - Passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 21, 2006, at his residence Nithview Home, New Hamburg. He was born 97 years ago on April 17, 1909, in Wilmot Township, son of the late Christian and Elizabeth (Wagler) Schwartzentruber. Elmer was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden, where he was ordained Deacon on August 31, 1941 and Minister on August 12, 1951. Elmer served the congregation until 1979 when he was named Pastor Emeritus. Since 1993, he was a resident of Nithview Home where he has enjoyed assisting fellow residents. Beloved husband of the late Magdalena (Mattie) Wagler, who predeceased him August 10, 1996. Loving father of Fern and Carl Erb and their children, Joilyn and Alex Hynes, Janelle and Doug Wenger (Charmian, Seth and Dana) and James Erb (Tristan); Mary and Mel Otterbein and their children Melri and Mike Wright (Matthew and Michelle) and Derek and Ellen Otterbein; Ruthie and Rick Umble and their children Randy and Melanie Umble (Jonny, Natalie, Erik and Katie), Ryan and Bethany Umble (Juliana) and Rodney Umble; Carol Joy Purves and her children Jonathan, David and Alijoy. Elmer is also remembered by sister-in-law Sarah Zehr of New Hamburg as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandchildren and his brother, Solomon and wife Lavina Swartzentruber. Friends and relatives may call at Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron St., New Hamburg, today (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. and again Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. On Sunday, December 24, 2006, a family committal service will take place at Steinmann Mennonite Cemetery at 1: 00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the adjoining church at 2: 00 p.m. with Pastor Myrna Miller Dyck officiating.
