- Mrs. John W. Maus - Death Takes Esteemed Ayr Lady on Saturday - There passed away at her home in Ayr on Saturday, April 15th, at 3 o'clock p.m., Agnes Hall, widow of the late John W. Maus, in her seventy-second year. She was born near Washington, in Blenheim Township, the eldest daughter of the late Thomas Hall and Agnes Robson. In 1886 she was married to the late John W. Maus who predeceased her seven years ago. Mrs. Maus was a faithful member of Knox United church and always took a deep interest in all that concerned the Church and community round about her. She was a woman of strong character and, through all the varied experiences of her life, her influence for good was felt by all who came in contact with her. She was a very devoted wife and mother, and a true friend and neighbor. Her family will have the sincere sympathy of the whole community in their sad bereavement. She is survived by one son, Jairus W., of South Dumfries, and three daughters, Janet, Laurie and Estelle, at home; also by one sister, Dr. Janet Hall, of Woodstock, and four brothers. John of Plattsville, Thomas of Harrisburg, Penn.. Dr. Alex. R. of St. Paul, Minn., and Oliver of Noranda, Quebec, a sister, Isabella, and a brother, Andrew, having predeceased her a few years. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon and was largely attended by old friends and neighbors. The services were conducted by Rev. J. W. Currie. and the pallbearers were as follows: William McRuer, Alex. McRae. William D. Hall, Thomas G. Hall, Morton Hall and Richard Baxter.
