      The death took place in Elmira on Thursday of an estimable lady in the person of Mrs. (Sophia) Hamel relict of the late Henry Hamel who passed away while on a visit to her daughter, Mrs. George E. Heuhn. The deceased was aged 77 years, 7 months and 23 days, and of late years has made her home in Sarnia. Born in Hessen Darmstadt, she came to this country with her parents and took up residence at Lexington. Later on with her parents they took up farming near Elmira. For 29 years she was a highly respected resident of Waterloo and her host of friends will be sorry to learn of her death. To mourn her sad demise there are left: - Gustave and Edward of Waterloo; John, Mildmay; Andrew, Hanover; Albert, Sterling, California; Matilda, (Mrs. John Filsinger), Sarnia; Louise (Mrs. Geo. Hehn), Elmira, and Emma (Mrs. Jacob Otto), Sarnia, 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and one sister Mrs. August Weber of Elmira also survive. Her husband predeceased her 43 years ago.

      Her remains were interred at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo, last Sunday.
