    • Eugene R. Bauer, 49, vice-president of Bauer Ltd. died Monday at his home 171 Union Blvd., after a brief illness.

      Mr Bauer had been with the family firm since 1934 and was production manager of its automotive and special products division. He was named a director in 1939, and vice-president in 1959. A lifelong resident of the twin cities he was the son of Mrs. Edgar J. Bauer and the late Mr. Bauer. Mr. Bauer was a director of the Waterloo Club, a member of the Carmel Guild of St. Joseph, and a member of St. John's RC Church. He was also a member of the Alumni Association of St. Michael's College Toronto. During the Second World War Mr. Bauer served for three years with the Canadian Army Postal Corps.

      In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife the former Sally Batty, a son Regis at home, a daughter Roberta at home, three brothers, Jerome F. and Raymond A. of Waterloo and Reverend David W. Bauer of St Mark's College, Vancouver, coach of the 1964 Canadian Olympic hockey team and five sisters, Mrs. Cecil E. (Alice) Schmalz of Preston; Mrs. Thomas (Therese) Dillon of Freeport, N. Y.; Mrs. Joseph (Margaret) Laudenbach of Pointe Claire, Que.; Mrs. Edward F. (Mary) Freiburger and Mrs. James (Rita) Huck, both of Kitchener. He was predeceased by two brothers, Robert T. (Bobby), a former star with the Boston Bruins hockey team, who died in 1964; and Frank N. a former Waterloo Mayor, who died in 1965.

      The body is at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, Waterloo, where the rosary will be recited at 8: 30 p.m. Wednesday and prayers offered at 9: 39 a.m. Thursday, followed by solemn requiem high mass at St. John's Church at 11 o'clock. Msgr V. A. Preister and Rev. David Bauer will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
