  Christian Bechtel "was born May 31st, 1830. He was a machinist and resided in Hespeler where he died May 5th, 1889. He was married twice, first to May Ann Compass and after her deceased to Mary Schaefer, widow of Carl Gegenhart. His family consisted of five children". Eby, Ezra E. (1895).
