  • Notes
    • Mrs. Arthur Brawn

The death took place at the Woodstock General Hospital on Saturday, November 5th, of Mary Ellen Riddell, beloved wife of Mr. Arthur Brawn, at the age of 58 years. The deceased had been ill for nearly two years and for the past year and a half was a patient in the Woodstock hospital. The deceased was born in England and emigrated to Canada about twenty years ago. For ten years she was a resident of New Hamburg and endeared herself to a wide circle of friends. She was a devoted and active member of St. George's Anglican Church during her residence in New Hamburg. Leaving here Mr. and Mrs. Brawn moved to Haysville and then to Plattsville, until her fatal illness overtook her and she was removed to the hospital. The funeral was held from McLiven's undertaking parlors at Woodstock on Monday last and interment was made in the Woodstock Anglican Cemetery. Rev. E. L. Vivian, of Woodstock, her former pastor, while rector of the parish of Wilmot, held the obsequies. Many New Hamburg friends were sorry to learn of Mrs. Brawn demise and sympathize with her husband in his bereavement.
