    • PLANKED SHAD OR WHITE FISH

      Evelyn Breithaupt.

Clean and split a thin pound shad, put the skin side down on oak plank 1 inch thick and a little longer and wider than the fish, sprinkle with salt and pepper and brush over melted butter. Bake 25 minutes in hot oven. Remove from the oven, spread with butter, garnish with parsley and brown. The fish should be sent to the table on plank. Planked shad is well cooked in a gas range having the flame over the fish.1a

    • Mrs. John R. Parry Is Widely Mourned

Played Leading Part in Charitable Endeavour - -Member of Centenary Church

Prominent in philanthropic and church circles during 33 years' residence in this city, the death of Mrs. Parry, beloved wife of Dr. John R. Parry, at her home, 282 Bay street south, yesterday afternoon occasioned widespread regret not only here but in Kitchener, where she was born; in Penetanguishene, where she has spent her summers since childhood, and in the cities of Toronto and Montreal.

Since her marriage, deceased was prominently connected with the affairs of Centenary United church, she having held a number of offices in connection with women's work there, perhaps the most notable being that of president the Women's association, in which office she was recognized as outstanding.

An ardent worker in behalf of the Red Cross cause, with which she first became interested during the last Great War, Mrs. Parry has continued her activities in the organization ever since. For many years she was secretary of the Aged Women's Home, her executive ability having been most beneficial to the institution.

Music played a prominent part in her home life and in her church activities. As a member of the Hamilton Golf and Country club, she was a keen golfer and for the last two years she has been honoured as & member of the executive of the Canadian Senior Ladies' Golf association.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Parry is survived by one son, John, at home, and three daughters, Mrs. F. R: Murgatroyd, this city; Mrs. J. C. Sihler, of Simcoe, and Miss Rose Parry, at home. The funeral is to be held from the late residence of deceased on Monday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock.
