    • Mrs Susan Johnson, 72, whose home for 43 years was on a farm at Oak Grove, six miles southwest of Wakarusa, until she was taken to the Elkhart home of a son, Edward G Johnson, a month ago, died at 6:30 Saturday morning. She had been bedfast 14 weeks.

      Mrs Johnson, the daughter of Frederick and Catherine (Adolph) Longfield, was born near Bremen, Sep 26, 1863. Her marriage to Richard Johnson took place Nov 27, 1881. He died April 17, 1935.

      When recently, a son, Irvin, arranged to leave the farm to go to Healthwin sanitarium, the farm was rented and the mother taken to Elkhart.

      Beside the sons Edward and Irvin, there is another son, Arthur Johnson of Bremen and a daughter, Mrs Goldie Kipler of Bremen; 15 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs Lizzie Chilcoe of Nappanee, and the following brothers, Menno Longfield of Elkhart, Daniel and Samuel of Oak Grove, David of Nappanee, and Edward of California.

      Mrs Johnson was a member of the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church at Oak Grove.

      The funeral was held Tuesday with a service at the Johnson home, 526 Capitol boulevard, at 1:30 pm and another at 2:30 o'clock at the South Union church southwest of Wakarusa and burial in the adjoining cemetery.
