- Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Walton Funeral Home in Sibley for Moses Hillgartner of Harris, with the Rev. E.E. Pencook officiating.
Moses Hillgartner was born February 16, 1861, to Henry and Fancis Hillgartner in Waterloo county, Ontario, Canada, and passed away Sept. 24 in the Hartley hospital at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 8 days.
He came to the United States at the age of 21 years and resided near May City for a short time where he, with his brother Ben, owned and operated a farm. Later he resided near Everly.
In 1931 he went to Harris an made his home with his nephew Wilfred Woelfle and family. He was the oldest of eleven children, four of whom survive, all living in Canada --two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Woelfle of Kitchener and Mrs. Francis Siebert of Petersburg and two brothers, Alvin and Ephraim of Kitchener.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.
Burial was made in the Ocheyedan cemetery. Pallbearers were: Harry McCauly, Lloyd McNiel, Rude Stahly Ervin Lorch, Neal Roelofsen and Dan Watters.
Mrs. Chris Heppler and Mrs. R. S. Woodworth sang and were accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Edith Peacock at the services. Mrs. Rude Stahly and Mrs. Ervin Lorch had charge of the flowers.
