    • SHANTZ, Norman Edward Peacefully at Fairview Mennonite Home on March 1, 2012, in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Beatrice (Witmer) for 67 years. Father of Jim (Lorraine), Richard, Ruth Lawrence (Bruce), Ed (Diane), Kathy Shantz (Reg Good), Robert (Judy). Lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Survived by sister Mary Witmer, sister-in-law Helen Burkholder (Joe) and brother-in-law Bruce Witmer (Pat). Predeceased by his brother Gordon, sister Irene Kinzie (Elton), brother- in-law Stewart Witmer, and sister-in-law Joyce Witmer. Lived and farmed most of his life near Black Horse Corners, Ayr. Long time member of Nith Valley Mennonite Church, New Hamburg. His many hobbies included bird watching, nature photography and woodworking. Friends and family will be received at Fairview Mennonite Home, 515 Langs Drive, Cambridge on Monday, March 5, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Fairview Mennonite Home at 3 P.M., March 6, 2012. Private family committal at Detweiler Cemetery, Roseville, in the spring. The family wishes to thank the staff at Fairview for their caring and compassion. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Fairview Mennonite Home, or the Mennonite Central Committee would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews St., Cambridge. (519-621-1650).
