  Samuel Plum Samuel Plum, one of Brussel's oldest residents, died at his home there early on Thursday morning in his 74th year. He had been confined to his home almost all winter with Bright's Disease. He was born in Haysville in 1856, the son of Ebenezer and Catherine Plum of Haysville. He was married 35 years ago to Ida Howell of New Hamburg, who died in 1922. He was a member of I.O.O.F. and attended the Anglican Church. Mr. Plum leaves to mourn their loss, one daughter, Miss Ruby and one son, Ernest, and three grandchildren; one sister (Ella), Mrs. Nelson Gerry and one brother, Ernest, in Vancouver. Mr. Plum was reeve of Brussels for five years, 1917 to 1922. He was an enthusiastic bowler and conducted a blacksmith shop there for years, and also was manager of the Queen's Hotel up to three years ago, when he retired.
