Notes |
- CUNNINGHAM, RICHARD
Who visited Hespeler last week, at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, on Wednesday morning, September 20, 1933. The news was received with keen regret, as during his annual visits here, Mr. Cunningham had made many new friends, as well as the old ones he came to see. He had not been well prior to his visit and it was thought that a holiday would be of benefit to him. No particulars were given as to the cause of his death but as he suffered several heart attacks while here, it is presumed that heart trouble was the cause of his demise. He was born in Gourock but came to Hespeler at an early age. His father, James Cunningham, conducted a store in the Dominion Bank stand for a number of years. The family left Hespeler in 1890, going to Guelph to live. Later, they moved to Stamford, where Mr. Cunningham entered a printing establishment conducted by his uncle. Later, he started a business for himself and had quite an extensive commercial printing business. Survived by his wife, who has been an invalid for several years; three sons and one daughter; three sisters and two brothers, Miss Ida Cunningham and Mrs. Whittaker of Stamford; Mrs. Shields of California; Clarence and Dr. Edward of New York.
