    • Observe Diamond Wedding

On Monday evening, February 15th, the eve of the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of their wedding day, a gathering of twenty-five members of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, North Easthope, Perth County, assembled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George McCallum, Shakespeare, and made a presentation of an illuminated electric heater and an address of appreciation of the services of Mr. and Mrs. McCallum. For forty years Mr. McCallum has been an elder and almost as many years a Sunday School Superintendent at St. Andrew's. Mrs. McCallum is an active life member of the Presbyterian Woman's Missionary Society.

On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs. McCallum were "At Home" to guests from many parts of Ontario. They were the recipients of many very valuable presents and congratulatory telegrams from both local Members of Parliament of South Perth and from Calgary, Toronto, and other points.

Following the afternoon reception, attended by over 150 guests a dinner for 18 members of the family and immediate friends was served at 7 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Murdock took the devotional exercise; and a toast to the guests of honor was proposed by A. R. G. Smith, of New Hamburg, and replied to on behalf of Mr. and Mrs. McCallum by their son, J. M. McCallum, of Ottawa.

Mr. McCallum was interested in the establishment of the Avonbank Cheese Factory and the North Easthope Telephone system. He is Secretary-Treasurer of St. Andrew's Cemetery.

Mr. McCallum is in his 86th year and Mrs. McCallum is in her 84th year. Both are hale and hearty and attend to their own household, garden and other duties.
