  Joshua Bechtel "was born in Montgomery County in 1775. He resided near Pottstown, Pennsylvania, on the old "Bechtel Farm", and was married to Susannah Gabel* who was killed by lightning. Their family consisted of seven children, namely: V Mary, V Sarah, V Jesse, V Annie, V William, V Rebecca, and V Susannah, all of which reside in Pennsylvania save William and Rebecca, who reside in Kansas, and Susannah, who resided in California where she died some time ago."
