    • VALENTINE K. SCHMITT

      Following a lengthy illness, Valentine K. Schmitt, Freeport, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lorne Scharman, Freeport, early today in his 67th year. The deceased was born in Wellesley township on June 9, 1871, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Schmitt. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church, and the I.O.O.F. being past noble grand of Grand Union Lodge, Kitchener.

      Surviving are his widow, one son, Percival of Detroit, Mich., four daughters, Mrs. Simon Weber and Mrs. Gordon Becker, both of Kitchener, Mrs. Lorne Scharman of Freeport, and Mrs. Harold Miller of Timmins, two brothers. Jacob of Swift Current, Sask., and John of Kitchener. five sisters, Mrs. Chas. Hachbart of Bamberg. Mrs. Henry Huehn of Heidelberg. Mrs. John Koehler of Wellesley, Mrs. Almelia Ziegler f Kitchener and Mrs. Salome Heimpel of Heidelberg, and two grandchildren. Two sons predeceased him in infancy.

      Funeral services will be private from his daughter's residence on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock to St. Matthew's church for public services at 2.30 p.m. with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. J. Schmieder will officiate.

      Remains will be at Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home until 10 a.m. Friday.
