Notes |
- The Late Jas. A. Wyllie - the Toronto papers made fitting reference to the late Jas. A. Wyllie, whose death on May 26 was referred to in the last issue of The News, interment taking place here on the arrival of the 10.10 train on Friday. The deceased, who lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wyllie, Louisa Street, West Toronto, was ill only about a week with typhoid fever and passed away at the hospital. He was 34 years of age and was one of the best known engineers on the C.P.R., working his way up from the ranks of a call bay. The remains were brought to his native town, as already stated, and interred in the beautiful Ayr cemetery. He was a member of the Locomotive Engineers and Firemen's Union and some 35 union men accompanied the remains to their last resting place, where they conducted the burial service of the order. Deceased was also a member of Victoria Presbyterian church, Toronto, and the services at his home were conducted by Rev. Dr. Pidgeon, Rev. John Thomson officiating at the grave. The floral tributes ere extensive and beautiful. The deceased young man was a nephew of Mrs. John Wyllie.
