- HENRY ILLING IS CALLED SUDDENLY AT ATLANTIC CITY
Well Known Kitchener Resident Succumbed Today While On His Honeymoon; Lived Here 45 Years
F. Henry Illing, president of the Kitchener Wholesale Grocers Limited and formerly with Messrs, Randall and Roos, passed away at the Stanton Hotel, Atlantic City, this morning in his 63rd year. The definite cause of death was not contained in advices to the family. The late Mr. Illing jad for many years resided at 27 Roy street.
A particularly and circumstance in connection with the sudden passing is the fact that Mr. Illing with his wife, nee Edna Pearl Kerr, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Kerr of Creemore, were only united in marriage on Saturday. June 2. and were on a wedding trip to Philadelphia and Atlantic City.
Being of the sympathetic type of citizen, the late Mr. llling was always ready and willing to give of his time in anything that would be of benefit to this community where he had been a resident for about 45 years, being born in Petersburg and raised in New Hamburg. Probably one of the organizations Mr. Illing took deepest Interest in was the Kitchener Regimental Band as he was one of the strongest supporters and keenest workers. He was secretary treasurer for over 25 years. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and also of the Lancaster Club.
The late Mr. Illing being of the philanthropic type of citizen provided many treats for the staff at the Kitchener-Waterloo hospital and for years past has been the central figure at the annual Christmas tree. He was a good church worker being an elder of the St. Andrew's Presbyterian church. For years he has been one of the most faithful members of the congregation attending the services very regularly and also being, until a few years ago, a member of the choir.
Besides his wife he is survived by his aged mother, Mrs. C. Illing, who has lived with him on Roy street, one son, Dr. H. E. Illing. 115 Locust street, city, three sisters Mrs. Ed. Merkel, Preston, Mrs. Dr. Fred Wahl and Mrs. K. Beilstein, both of Savannah, Georgia. One brother, E. O, Illing predeceased him two years ago.

_____________
This week witnessed the passing of F. Henry Illing, one of Kitchener's highly esteemed business men who in his lifetime found numerous opportunities to gladden weary hearts. The late Mr. Iiling was well known in recent years for his philanthropy, always extended in a modest, quiet way, and his sudden death in Atlantic City on Monday morning was a shock to his wide circle of friends. In recent years he had gone to considerable expense to outfit himself as Santa Claus. He performed the function of the Good Saint principally at the K-W hospital and St. Andrew's Presbyterian church. For many years he was an officer and patron of the Kitchener Musical Society. Deepest sympathy is extended to his bereaved widow, and his aged mother and his son.
