- Former Resident Died.
The death is reported of a former resident of New Hamburg, Col. Kenneth Goodman, K. C., who passed away at Parkhill in his 84th year. He opened a law office here in 1860. As captain of the New Hamburg Infantry Company be did outpost duty during the Fenian Raid, serving at Goderich and other points on the frontier. After the 29th Waterloo Battalion was organized in September, 1866, he was given command. Col. Goodman removed about 1870 to Parkhill and continued his law practice there. His wife predeceased him twelve years ago and his son Ambrose three years ago. Two daughters one in Toronto and one in Winnipeg survive. Interment took place at Parkhill last Thursday.

ELECTION IN NEW HAMBURG.-Our Correspondent from that place says, last Saturday we had a new election of Reeve, and one Councilman. The Reeve in place of Col. Goodman (who did not qualify,) and one Councilman in place of J. L Wilson who resigned. This was a very close election. The excitement was kept up all day. - At the close of the poll the candidates stood as follows:--Reeve, Dr. W. H. Bouulee, 47 ; Mr. J. L. Wilson, 43; Councilmen; Mr. Samuel Merner, 44 ; Mr. Jno. RAU, 42.
