      The grim reaper has called from the midst of this earthly sojourn another well-known business man in the person of Mr. Aaron Surarus, who died at about 10 o'clock Saturday evening after a lingering illness. Mr. Surarus had not been in good health for some years and months ago his condition had necessitated his retirement from actual participation in his business. For about three months he had been confined to his bed and his condition finally resulted in his passing away. A son of the late David and Mrs. Surarus the deceased was born on the farm near Freeport on Jan. 23rd., 1856 where he was brought up to manhood. Subsequently he was in business in New Hamburg, conducting an undertaking establishment in that town. Twenty-one years ago [1897] he removed to this city, where he has since conducted successfully his undertaking and picture framing business. As an able undertaker, Mr. Surarus was well-known, he understanding the art to the degree of the highest efficiency. Respected as an able business man, Mr. Surarus also enjoyed the good words and wishes of not a few friends. His amiable and conversative nature won many admirers. The loss sustained by his widow and children is also a loss to all who knew him. The city mourns his passing. On May 14th, 1891 Mr. Surarus was married to Adriana Stengel of Freeport, who with two daughters Stella and Gertrude at home, survive him. Two brothers and six sisters also survive. They are: Menno, North Bay, Jacob, Buffalo; Mrs. Emmanuel Weaver of Petosky, Mich.; Mrs. Isaac Gehl of Caledonia, Mich.; Mrs. G. Gnutzner [Gruetzner] of Hespeler; Mrs. Magdalena Walter of Buffalo; Mrs. Almond [Almon?]Lewis and Mrs. Wm. Meisel both of Freeport. A sister, Mrs. Nathan Wood, city, died a few months ago. The funeral will take place at 2: 30 p.m. Wednesday at the residence, 40 S. Queen Street to the East End Lutheran Cemetery. The funeral will be private. No flowers. The deceased was a member of St. Peter's church.

      Mr. A. B. Surarus Passed Away on Saturday


      Mr. A. B. Surarus, for many years one of Kitchener's foremost undertakers, passed away at his home here on Queen street, south, Saturday evening at 10 o'clock after a lingering illness. The deceased was born in Freeport in 1856 on January 23. He took up the furniture and undertaking business in the early years of his life. For 21 years he conducted an undertaking business in this city and for five years he was in business in New Hamburg. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Misses Stella and Gertrude of this city. Two brothers and six sisters, also survive. They are Mrs. E. Weber, of Petoskey, Mich. Mrs. Isaac Gehl of Caledonia, Mrs. M. Walter of Buffalo, Mrs. Alvin [Almon?] Lewis and Mrs. W. Meissel of Centreville, Mrs. G. Greutzner of Hespeler, Menno of North Bay and Jacob of Buffalo. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2: 30 o'clock from the late residence of the deceased and will be private. Interment will be made at the East End Cemetery.
