ALVAN DEVITT
Alvan E Devitt, 73, CPR telegraph agent In Waterloo for 50 years. died at his home, 79 Erb street east today. Mr. Devil; suffered a stroke Jen. 7, In his office In the Equitable Life building
He survived his brother, E. M Devitt, by slightly more than one month. The latter suffered a stroke Dec 13 on Erb street west, near the Dominion Life building, and died Dec. 18.
Born In Waterloo, Alvah Devitt served as secretary of the public school board for many years. He attended the First United church. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Chosen Friends and the Royal Arcanum.
Besides his wife. he is survived by two sons, Edward Blake of Cleveland and Frank Reginald of Kidder-minster, Eng, two daughters, Mrs. Fred Ruppel of Elmira and Mrs. A. C. McLean of Brantford, two brothers, A. Harvey Devitt of Kitchener and Dr. B. F. Devitt of Philadelphia, and nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 230 p.m. at his late residence, 79 Erb street east, with Rev. E. Val Tilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in Mount Hope Cemetery.
